Dear Family and Friends of Jesus Center,
At the start of the year, we declared that we would go beyond the walls. We did regular outreaches and so many of us were involved. And all 2020, we have been sowing into the needs of the L.A. Harbor Area. From prayer ministry, to food distribution, to serving coffee and having conversations, to Christmas gifts, to cleaning parks, to sharing the good news of God's love, we did the best we could in the middle of a pandemic. We even planted a church "JC HARBOR" that had outdoor worship services since June. We have seen a good number people come to know the Lord and give Him their hearts through our work in the L.A. Harbor Area.
We have always had people in our church who had a huge heart for the pain and brokenness in the L.A. Harbor Area and recently we have been presented an unbelievable opportunity to establish an
outreach center in the heart of downtown San Pedro.
This year, we built a wonderful friendship with the owner of the event center that we used to rent to do all of our outreaches from. She couldn't believe we would deep clean the entire facility for her with our volunteers. She saw our hearts for the city. Long story short, she is giving our church the opportunity to lease her building for the entire year at a deeply discounted price.
What was on our hearts for years, we that can finally do, here. Feels like a dream coming ture.
- Food bank.
- Thrift Store.
- Prayer House.
- Indoor Kids Playgrounds.
- Kids Ministry Center (3500 sq foot).
- And a flexible Event Space for Worship Services,
Concerts, Art Shows, and Community Engagements (5,500 sq foot).
Now, we would have budgeted for this space, had we known. Yet, it was only on Thursday that this offer came our way, and our budget for 2021 had been finalized by our fabulous board six days before. Therefore, we would need raise about 40-50K in order to be able to afford this tremendous, strategic space of 10,500 sq. feet three units from the Warner Grand Theater.
We are not pressuring anyone to give anything.
Yet, perhaps, it is on your heart to get behind the building of the OUTREACH CENTER on 430 w. 6th Street. And if it is, please let us know. Now for those who regularly support Jesus Center, we are asking that this donation towards the OUTREACH CENTER would be something beyond what you would normally do.
We don't have too much time to seize this opportunity, as the Landlord is asking us to commit before the end of the year. Please note that you can fulfill your commitments in the next 3-4 months. Also, this facility will not replace our Torrance Campus (we are keeping our Torrance Campus), but rather will become the JC Harbor Campus and our Outreach Center.

Some questions people have asked me (that you may be asked too):
1) Would you be letting go of our JC TORRANCE? The answer is no. This new facility would be the home for JC Harbor and serve as our OUTREACH CENTER.
2) What happens after the end of the year? We will negotiate a new lease and yet it would probably be closer to market value (right now it is discounted 60-80%).
3) How much money do we actually need to raise? We originally decided on 40K and then the board realized we needed to include the build out costs so it is looking more like 50K.
4) Is this similar to the last time when we didn’t get picked by the landlord for the Korean Church building? No. This time, we have the lease papers we have the lease signed.
5) When do people need to fulfill their commitments by? We are hoping in the next 3-4 months.
