Jesus Center Youth

As we begin the new Tru Identity curriculum, we are so excited to connect and grow with all the Jr High students and parents. As I began to ask the Lord about His plans for the youth, I found myself reflecting upon my own experiences growing up in the church.

By now we have all heard the statistics that show 2/3 youth leave the church by their early 20s but the question that the church body is still trying to answer is what can we do to prevent this? As I brought this question before God, I felt like there were a couple of key things being highlighted. First, I felt the importance of worship, His word, and the need for each student to know His voice for themselves. In a world where there are so many things competing for their attention it has become more important than ever to know God’s voice and to know His word.

Secondly, I felt like the word “ownership” was being emphasized. If we are somehow able to get across the idea that this is their faith and not someone else’s I believe it will positively affect the decisions they make in the future. Our goal is to develop a safe environment for each student to share, ask honest questions, and to experience God in new and deeper ways.

We will be starting our curriculum in the book of Ephesians and exploring God’s redemptive plan for humanity. At the end of our Sunday meetings each student will be given “homework” which consists of one page of questions / activities to prepare them for the following week's lesson. The goal of the questions and activities is to stimulate conversation between parents and their middle schooler.

Thank you so much for your support and for being a part of Jesus Center. We look forward to partnering with you in bringing hearts back to God.

Our Middle School students meet every Sunday at our Torrance Campus (except the 5th Sunday of the month) for a time of fun and study in the Scriptures. Middle School students join the worship time with the rest of the church and then go into the auditorium around 10:30 am.

Feel free to reach out!

Middle School Lead
